The NascomThis is a featured page

This is going to be a voyage down memory lane.

The Nascom - nascom2

First the Nascom2 computer.

A very close second. Nev, G4CPY.
To me he was Mr Nascom. A great programmer and a good friend. So many good guys die young.

My Nascom2 is at this minute still in my loft. Not for long I have been inspired to fetch it it down. Sort out the paperwork and the manual, take some pictures, invite some comments.

Imagine my surprise when I found this via Google:
TA2FQ - READ IBM 105
Does anyone remember Nev G4CPY. He chastised me for putting 2K of RAM in my machine and then writing an aplication that was slightly over 1K. ...
ankara.servebbs.org/cmd?cmd=READ+IBM+105 - 7k - Supplemental Result -

When a couple of days ago I had written:
I stuck with the Nascom saying no no computing cannot go that way please. (The Microsoft way). It did. I splashed out and had 2K of RAM. Much to the disgust of some of the enthusiasts (G4CPY) who said you will never need all that RAM, only to contain untidy programming.

TA2FQ is an Amateur Radio Callsign of a station in Turkey. Likewise G4CPY was the Callsign of Neville XXX he lived In Leicester UK.

There is a new breed of RadioHam now. He is presented with a high tech. Transmitter Receiver or Computer. Fully assembled with a Operating Manual and fully functioning Software. He looks at the manual says "I CANT understand it, it is doing my head in, I will bring it round to you you can set it up for me and solder up some connection leads."

This site goes back to the generation who didn't understand CANT.

For Radio Comment Try. RADIOTALK

So that is the introduction done. Look up top left for Navigation to the Subject Pages.

Yes this will refuel the old problem of Z80 verses the 6800.
The next best current alternative is the new 32bit versions of the Microchip PIC, with a high level language.
